Frequently asked questions

General

  • The ideal months to experience Morocco are March through May and September through November. During these periods, you'll enjoy pleasant temperatures and typically dry weather.

  • Is Morocco safe?

Morocco is a stable country with a well-established tourism infrastructure. Our focus on small-group, authentic experiences means we naturally avoid crowded tourist areas where possible. You'll be accompanied by our experienced local guides and drivers throughout the journey. We've built trusted relationships with our local partners over many years, ensuring you're in safe hands.

    Our Safety Measures Include:

    • Licensed, professional guides and drivers

    • Carefully vetted accommodation partners

    • 24/7 local support

  • We recommend:

    • Keeping valuables in your room safe

    • Dressing modestly, especially in medinas and religious sites

    • Being aware of your surroundings, as in any travel destination

    • Following your guide's local insights and advice

  • Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for joining our journey. We recommend securing insurance at the time of booking that includes:

    • Medical coverage

    • Trip cancellation protection

    • Emergency evacuation

    • Coverage for personal belongings

Please review your policy carefully, particularly regarding COVID-19 coverage and cancellation terms.

Hosted Journeys

  • Our hosted tours are intimate journeys led by Maxine, who has spent 13 years building close relationships throughout Morocco. You'll benefit from her knowledge and personal connections with local artisans, riad owners, and restaurant owners.

  • What should I pack?

    • Comfortable walking shoes

    • Modest, breathable clothing

    • Light layers for evening temperature changes

    • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)

  • We can accommodate most dietary requirements with advance notice. We've carefully selected restaurants that maintain high standards of food safety and quality.

  • Our journey involves moderate walking on uneven surfaces, particularly in medinas and historic sites. While we maintain a relaxed pace, you should be comfortable walking slow pace for up to 2 hours and managing stairs.

  • We stay in carefully selected boutique riads (traditional Moroccan houses with interior courtyards) and luxury desert camps. All accommodations feature:

    • Private bathrooms

    • Air conditioning or fan

    • Comfortable furnishings

    • Modern amenities within historic settings

  • While most expenses are covered, you might want to budget for:

    • Beverages

    • Shopping in the souks

    • Optional spa treatments

    • Gratuities

    • Personal purchases

Most places accept credit cards, but it's good to carry some cash for small purchases and tips.

  • We keep our groups intentionally small, with a maximum of 10-12 guests. This allows us to stay in boutique riads, dine at intimate restaurants, and ensure everyone receives personal attention throughout the journey.

  • Yes! We've carefully balanced structured activities with free time for you to explore, shop, or relax. Max is always happy to provide recommendations for your independent adventures.

  • Absolutely! Many guests travel solo. The intimate size of our group means you'll quickly feel part of our little family. We can also help arrange room sharing to avoid single supplements when possible.

  • Max is with the group throughout the journey, alongside our professional local guide and driver. You'll have 24/7 support for any questions or needs that arise.

  • We travel in a comfortable, private vehicle with our dedicated driver. This allows us to be flexible with our timing and make impromptu stops when interesting opportunities arise.

  • We're happy to help arrange additional nights at our riads or recommend other destinations to enhance your Moroccan experience. Max can share her favorite hidden gems if you'd like to explore further.

  • While you're always free to take time for yourself, please note that this is an all-inclusive journey with carefully curated experiences. As all activities, meals, and excursions are pre-arranged and included in your tour price, we cannot offer refunds for any missed experiences. We encourage you to participate in the planned activities to get the most value from your journey, but we understand if you occasionally need some personal time.
